November 23 - January 27
An exploration of nêhiyaw cosmology and worldview through star constellation stories and knowledge from nêhiyaw(Cree)/British/German filmmaker Eli Hirtle. Inspired and informed by nêhiyawêwin (Cree language) teacher Reuben Quinn and Ininew astronomer Wilfred Buck, a dream from the hole in the sky translates Hirtle's own observations of the night sky into works representing pakone kisik (the hole in the sky), also known as known as the Pleidas or the Seven Sisters-- a significant constellation for nêhiyawak (Cree people).
This exhibition is supported by the Canada Council for the Arts, the Capital Regional District, the province of BC, and the BC Arts Council.
