Workshop: Technelux - Topics in Lighting Control

Technelux is a workshop on Intermediate and Advanced Concepts and Tools for lighting control.

It is expected that you have programming and possibly some electronics experience. Even if you don’t have lighting control experience, the topics presented will still be useful for other types of projects.

Instructor Bio
Shawn Silverman is an LED artist and educator who is passionate about integrating software, hardware, and communication protocols that enable interactive art. He currently resides in Oakland, California, and yes, he’s been to Burning Man.

This 4–5 hour workshop will cover intermediate and advanced techniques for your lighting projects. There will be two parts, interleaved and duplicated as necessary:

1. Covering tools, concepts, or techniques that will add value to a lighting project.

2. Hands-on help implementing the new concepts, answering questions, and assisting development via a discussion and demonstration within the group.

Bring your projects and we’ll choose topics based on the needs and desires of the class.

Feel free to comment in the "Example Topics" section of the workshop outline:

-LED strip (1m 30px/m Adafruit NeoPixels)
-Parts necessary to hook everything up
-Passive components
-Power supply

Required materials
You will need a laptop with at least one USB port that can communicate with an Arduino. Please bring any adapters as necessary. If you don't have access to a laptop, let us know and we can likely provide you with one. The supply is limited, however.

Optional materials
